Blog: 19 catcher, The wicker Bar

Holden hates to see Luce go because Holden has called everyone in his number book and doesn't have anyone else o call. Holden feels lonely and has no one else to go to. He is in the city alone and tried meeting new people. The girls he danced with had no interest in talking to him and the children he played with on the seesaw didn't want him there either. Holden feels not only lonely but out of place. He feels like he can't fit in.

blog: chapter 15 holden and mercutio

Holden identifies with Mercutio instead of Tybalt because Mercutio was innocent and didn't provoke his own death.  He probably sees Mercutio as Allie. Allie died of leukemia which he didn't give himself. Mercutio was stabbed and died; he didn't make this decision. Tybalt was wild and killed Mercutio. He didn't give Mercutio the chance to live and make something of himself. This means Mercutio was innocent and Tybalt was guilty. Holden talks so greatly of Allie and his family. " My brother D.B.'s a writer and all, and my brother Allie, the one that died, that I told you about, was a wizard. I'm really the only really dumb one." This shows how he believes that Allie should have had his chance to live.

Blog: ch. 12 conversation with Horowitz

Horowitz is a rude, nasty, unfriendly man. He doesn't care to talk to Holden about the ducks or anything else. He just wants to get Holden to where he wants to go and get paid. Holden on the other hand is over friendly and invites the cab driver to go and drink with him. Holden is trying to make conversation even though some of what he says are lies.

Blog: Chapter 8 Letter to Ernie from Mrs.Morrow

Dear Ernie,
I was on the train the other day late at night. I went and got on the train bumped into a classmate of yours. His name was "Rudolf Smith" but I know it is Holden Cauffield. He told me that you were a very popular kid in school and everyone wanted you to run. He also said he that you turned that opportunity down. I don't believe him though. Holden also said that he was going to South America with his grandmother. I want to hear what you have to say about all of this. Please explain to me what is going on.
Love
Mom

Blog: Allie's writing poems continued

Above the sky unrolls its telegram
immense and wordless, simply understood;
you've made your mark like birdracks in the sand-
now make the air your lungs your livelihood.
see how each wave arrives at last to heave
itself upon the beach and vanish. Breathe ~Ros Barber~

Breakaway from the chains and shackles
which from you, your life, take away;
Breathe again; this time without constraint
And the dreams in your eyes: Realize ~Siddharth Anand~

Blog: Allie's writing poems

Seen at the beach
Has rough edges
Elegance
Lives in the sea
Loved by children on the beach

Haiku
The sunflower opens up
And the wind blows the flower over
and the seeds fall out

Blog: Ch. 5-7 Allie's Writing Assignment

The object is smooth and white. If you listen to some other kinds of this object, you can hear the ocean. People go and look for them. I smell like salt water.

Blog 5: Catcher in the Rye

The shooting of John Lennon was on December 8, 1980. It was outside the Dakota building in New York City. He as well as his wife Yoko Ono lived there. Mark Chapman murdered him and after shooting him, he stayed at the scene until police arrested him. He bought the gun at a gun store in Honolulu Hawaii.

Mark Chapman had very odd behaviors before the shooting. He live in Hawaii and worked at a hospital. Then moved to a security job where he put his name down as John Lennon. Chapman's friends say that he was a big Beatles fan and was upset when they broke up. After the shooting his didn't leave like many people would, but stayed, sat down, and read Catcher in the Rye.

Chapman most likely felt a connection with Holden from Catcher in the Rye because they both have been in a mental institution. Also they are both jealous, unstable, and unhappy with their lives. Their families do not have much of a role in their lives. They are both social pariahs. Chapman and Holden both have violent acts that don't faze them. Instead of leaving the scene or acting on it, Chapman did nothing but read after murdering John Lennon. When Holden jumps on Stradlater he isn't fazed by it either. They both are carefree in their own worlds.
